Ladies, can you do me a favor right quick? Look to the woman to the right of you & say, “I’m rooting for you.” Now look to the woman to the left of you and say, “we are in this together.”
This is what the beginning of this post would look like if this were a Sunday in church. I know it’s just a blog, but I hope it got your attention because. . .
WOMEN NEED TO ENCOURAGE WOMEN!
One of my greatest gifts in life is my relationships, with other women. Women who encourage me, challenge me, cheer me on, & sometimes even tell me the hard stuff that I don’t want to hear about myself. These type of relationships are so important to my shine because they help me to shine on. . . and on.
Our history as women can be compared to lion’s fighting for a pride. We see another lady who may look a little more lean, make more money, have dope hair, more followers on instagram, a bomb house, well dressed kids, etc. . . that woman becomes an immediate threat & so we attack. Just like a smart lion, we look for the weakness and hit her there. Or maybe even ourself. The attack can be against ourselves because comparison cuts deep.
But what if we saw another woman shining, encouraged her to keep on, & learned from her? What difference does it make when women come together instead of fight for the spotlight?
Comparison is causing depression… I have been hearing this so much lately & it is absolutely scary. So whose at fault? The person posting or the person scrolling? Is it wrong to only share pretty photos & a clean home? Nope… Is it wrong to see those perfectly edited photos & spotless house then feel inadequate? Nope! What is the solution?
Relationship… real life, off screen, deep, vulnerable, life giving relationships. It makes all the difference. There is something so powerful about face to face conversation, that life on life friendship, the constant rooting for your sisters. Togetherness. Because social media is fun but it was never meant to replace real life. So get off your phone sometimes & have coffee with someone near. Draw near to one another just like Jesus draws near to us. Share your weaknesses, be vulnerable. Share your strengths, be bold. Laugh, cry, & encourage one another. Women, we need each other. Not just for likes on photos & sweet comments, but off screen too. Ladies, let’s unite.
“How good and pleasant is it when brothers(sisters) live together in unity!” Psalms 133:1
Real relationships with each other w/o throwing shade but just being genuine in sisterhood. Looove this!
Yes sis yes! I appreciate you always being genuine with me & I LOOOVE seeing you shine! xo Jalyssa
This is so beautiful and sooooo true Jalyssa!! I know For me i was Getting caught up as if Instagram is REAL LIFE. It’s a place where you come to post your best! I’m constantly reminding myself that we are all human and no one is going to come on Instagram and say “i just fought w my husband” lol. But my friends and i are always talking about this topic! I think it’s VITAL to have relationships with other women, bc at the end of the day we are all human just trying to do our best! Anyway I’m rambling now haha. Great post girl
Yes sis I agree! Instagram is a fun place but no one is about to go live in a fight with their man or while discipling their kids. Its so cool when we get to do life with other couples & other mamas & see how they resolve these things… in real life! Love you boo xo Jalyssa
